Domestic Abuse Awareness

Domestic Violence Awareness Month evolved from the first Day of Unity observed in October, 1981 by the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. The intent was to connect battered women’s advocates across the nation who were working to end violence against women and their children. The Day of Unity soon became a special week when a range of activities were conducted at the local, state, and national levels.

These activities were as varied and diverse as the program sponsors but had common themes: mourning those who have died because of domestic violence, celebrating those who have survived, and connecting those who work to end violence.

“In October 1987, the first Domestic Violence Awareness Month was observed. That same year the first national toll-free hotline was begun. In 1989 the first Domestic Violence Awareness Month Commemorative Legislation was passed by the U.S. Congress. Such legislation has passed every year since with NCADV providing key leadership in this effort.” (National Coalition Against Domestic Violence Website)

Every year in the United States approximately 1.3 million women and 835,000 men are physically assaulted by an intimate partner.

“Battering is the establishment of control and fear in a relationship through violence and other forms of abuse. The batterer uses acts of violence and a series of behaviors, including intimidation, threats, psychological abuse, isolation, etc. to coerce and to control the other person. The violence may not happen often, but it remains as a hidden (and constant) terrorizing factor.” (Uniform Crime Reports, Federal Bureau of Investigation, 1990)

Finding Your Bliss

This week on Journey to Self are Liz Lichti and Laura Whitelaw, these fabulous women are the creators of The Way to Bliss Now.com a membership site.

Liz Lichti’s first taste of EFT was at a workshop that she attended in the summer of 2006. Liz was so blown away by the whole process, that she continues to use everyday and was hungry to learn more.  During a web search she came across Maryam Webster’s Certified Energy Coach program and registered for the coaching program in the fall and received her certificate to coach EFT & ZPoint.  After graduation Liz spent the next year working on herself and her own blocks to Bliss while very slowly building her practice.

Laura Whitelaw came across EFT late 2001 early 2002 – she heard about it through a newsletter and was invited to attend a free call with the creator Gary Craig.  After listening to Gary and learning about EFT, Laura became very intrigued, so she began to learn everything I could about it.  She used EFT on and off with herself throughout the years and attended various trainings with other EFT practitioners.  In the last 2 years, Laura had began using EFT on a much more regular basis and obtained her EFT-CC designation in 2007.

Then late last year, Laura was introduced to ZPoint.  After the her first session,  she didn’t notice any great relief right away but after about 3 or 4 hours, an incredible feeling of well-being washed over her and lasted for 3 or 4 days.  She was totally in the “now” during that time and felt great!  Laura then went ahead and became certified earlier this year as a ZPoint practitioner with the creator of ZPoint.

In the summer of 2007 Liz met Laura at a meetup group where we discovered we were both certified in EFT, they immediately connected.  From there they started their own Meetup group to share EFT with others and the group has steadily grown over the past year. This fall Liz and Laura decided to partner up in business and develop a membership site The Way To Bliss Now so they could start sharing these life changing techniques with people around the world and help those already familiar with energy techniques integrate them more easily into their everyday lives.

Join me Thursday October 9th as I talk to Liz and Laura about finding bliss. Listen live at 5pm pst / 6pm mnt / 7pm cst / 8pm est on Blog Talk Radio ~ http://blogtalkradio.com/journeytoself.

Coach Your Brain

I am excited to have Business Coaches Jenn Givler and Katherine Reschke as my guest this week.

Jenn Givler, is a marketing expert and business coach who regularly helps her clients break through self-sabotaging barriers and mind-set traps. Katherine Reschke is a life and business coach and avid student of the brain. She has the ability to make complex concepts simple enough for anyone to grasp and she is passionate about helping people change for the better.

Katherine and Jenn are experienced coaches who have come together to solve the problem that they were seeing over and over in not only their clients lives but in their own. They kept seeing people getting stuck, not achieving the success they wanted and getting stuck in the same patterns. Using the science of the brain, they have created a program that works on the mindsets that underpin EVERYTHING we do. By changing the mindsets, clients are changing their lives and their businesses.

Their new program “Coach Your Brain” helps individuals move from stuck to success with the combination of traditional coaching tools and cutting edge techniques that have been proved to be so powerful that it has been used as treatment for individuals with O.C.D (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) and seen results in as little as two weeks

Join me Thursday October 2nd as I talk to Jenn and Katherine about coaching the brain and how to go from stuck to success! Listen live at 10am pst / 11am mnt / 12pm cst / 1pm est on Blog Talk Radio ~ http://blogtalkradio.com/journeytoself.
