A Thanksgiving Message from Tonya

Tomorrow is the big day of thanks. This year Logan is so excited to help me in the kitchen. The last couple of years my sister-in-law have split the cooking and then we gather at my dad’s and have a nice relaxing Thanksgiving!

I hope that you all have a fabulous day with your families.  Remember we all have been blessed in may ways.  Celebrate all that you are grateful for from the smallest to the biggest.

~ Tonya

Let’s Talk About…

In conjunction with the wonderful new show Ladies, Let’s Talk, I have put together a new educational discussion called, “Let’s Talk About…” Each month, I will lead the group as they explore different topics aimed at helping participants improve in all areas of life and offering the support that participants need to realize their power and to propel to excellence.

The first in the “Let’s Talk About…” series of educational discussions will focus on YOU. This will include the importance of taking care of yourself, how you can change your guilt into self-nurturing, and how strengthening your foundation of self can lead to success in all the other areas of your life.

Quote of the Week

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity… It turns problems into gifts, failures into success, the unexpected into perfect timing, and mistakes into important events. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow.”

Feminine Power…Where did it go?

In the last two years alone, we’ve witnessed both the first female Speaker of the House, as well as the first presidential candidate. Although Senator Hillary Clinton lost the nomination, her campaign demonstrates that more women are aiming for positions of power - and according to history, this concept isn’t as novel as many people think.” ~ PR for Luminous Heartbeats

In The Luminous Heartbeat, author Wendy Victor sets out to discover why the beneficial female influences in our lives have been eclipsed by the male influences. In particular, she seeks to discover why the spiritual world has become so patriarchal. She proposes that the transition from oral tales to written history was the catalyst that severed us from a world naturally rich in spiritual reality. Her message is about new beginnings, empowerment, awareness, voice, and fertility. Ultimately, Victor reconstructs the ancient equilibrium between spiritual and terrestrial forces and reconfirms the original covenant between women and God. The result is a book luminous with both beauty and spiritual energy.

I am very excited to have Wendy Victor this week as my guest on Journey to Self.  Wendy Victor first became interested in comparative religion at Briarcliff College, where her thesis was on Zen Buddhism. Her work experience in Eastern art and anthropology has included assignments with the Brooklyn Museum of Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She earned a graduate degree from Sarah Lawrence College in Women’s History and led the Women’s History Program at the Convent of the Sacred Heart, in Greenwich, Connecticut, where she organized the school’s symposium on Educating Women for Peace. She is an expert photographer and lives in Palm Beach, Florida, with her best friend and husband, Mike.

Join me Thursday November 20th at 10am pst/11am mnt/12pm cst/ 1pm est on http://blogtalkradio.com/journeytoself as Wendy Victor and I trace the roots of female power!

Finally I am back!

This was my first week back to work and school in the last two weeks.  Over the last two weeks my family and I went through the stomach flu, pink eye, sinus and ear infections.

I have to say that I am glad that I am getting over sick, I have been catching up this week and I am happy to say I am almost there.  Of course my recovery coincides with a cold snap here in Wisconsin (about time…last week it was still in the 70’s)  So, now I am planning the holidays with my family and looking forward to our first snow - Logan and I have a date to make a snowman.

I am hoping all of you that have caught the flu or any other illness a speedy recovery and don’t forget to take care of yourself!

Love is the key to overcoming the world’s problems.”

~ Stephen Edwards
