Finding Answers Within
I want you to know the power, the liberation of another kind of science - the inner science, the yogic science - through which you can become the master of your own destiny.”
~ Sadhguru
Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, a yogi and profound mystic of our times, is a visionary humanitarian and a prominent spiritual leader. A contemporary Guru, rooted as strongly in mundane and pragmatic matters as he is in inner experience and wisdom, Sadhguru works tirelessly towards the physical, mental, and spiritual well-being of all. His mastery of the mechanisms of life, an outcome of his profound experience of the Self, guides in exploring the subtler dimensions of life.
At home in loincloth as much as he is in blue jeans, barefoot through the mighty Himalayas, or straddling a BMW motorcycle on the expressway, Sadhguru is the most unusual mystic that one can encounter. Marking a clear departure from mere customs and rituals, Sadhguru’s scientific methods for self-transformation are both direct and powerful. Belonging to no particular tradition, Sadhguru incorporates and presents what is most valid for the contemporary life from the yogic sciences.
Traversing seamlessly from the ancient to the ultramodern, Sadhguru bridges the gap between the known and the unknown, enabling all those who encounter him to explore and experience the deepest dimensions of life.
Join me Thursday January 29th at 10am pst/11am mnt/12pm cst/ 1pm est on http://blogtalkradio.com/journeytoself as Sadhguru helps us all gain inner perceptive on the universal questions of life.

Don’t Buy In
Last night I went to the store to buy a pair of boots. I was amazed that there were three aisles of men boots, even a giant display. I was optimistic that I would be able to find a good pair of boots, after all this winter in Wisconsin has been filled with snow and I am sure there will be more before the winter is over.
I was disappointed to find not even a half aisle of women boots and all but two pairs were high heel fashion boots. There was no way that I was going to be able to get across the snowy and icy campus at school in 3 inch heeled boots.
Anyway, I was able to find a nice pair of shoes, but no boots. This experience reminded me of the discussion that we had on “Ladies, Let’s Talk” the past Monday night (http://www.blogtalkradio.com/thewomensempowerhour/2009/01/20/Ladies-Lets-Talk-Loving-YOU)
The shows topic was Loving You! and during the discussion the question of why women generally have low self-esteem about their physical appearance. I had mentioned that one of the reasons that I felt women are so hard on themselves was the fact that the media overwhelms us with unrealistic image of women, everything is about being thin enough, young enough and dressed in the latest fashions.
This may or may not be the reason for the lack of sensible women’s winter boots, but it definitely is something to think about not only as women, but as consumers. The shopping trip brought up more questions such as why is women’s clothing, even socks more expensive than men’s?
As women we are manipulated into thinking that we have to buy all the latest fashion, cosmetics, hair products, and countless other products marketed strictly to women. We need to be able to be comfortable with ourselves inside and out and not be afraid to break away from the pact.
Don’t buy in!

How to have smoother mornings
Most mothers that I talk to describe their mornings as “hectic”, “chaotic” and “rushed”. Usually kids scattering in a zillion directions, looking for homework, books, shoes…and while you are directed traffic you are trying to make sure that they get semblance of the most important meal of the day.
Does that sound familiar? If so here are some tips to having a smooth morning and a better start for everyone’s day.
Make sure that everyone is getting enough sleep, especially you! If you and your family not morning people it is more important that your kids and you are getting enough sleep to feel rested in the morning. Depending on the age children from 5-12 still need between 10-12 hours of sleep where teenagers need between 8-9 hours of sleep.
Set up a bedtime routine. To reduce running around in the morning have each child set their homework, books and everything they need for school the next day in a designated spot. Set out clothes as part of the night time routine will cut back on tracking down clothes in the morning.
To help with breakfast dilemmas, plan what you are going to have the night before, add into your night routine assigning one of the kids to set the table. You could even cook up scrambled eggs using leftover meat and vegetables from dinner, place in a microwave safe container and put in the fridge for morning. In the morning pop in some toast, server with fruit and juice.
Baths or showers the night before cut back on morning bathroom lines and make the time it takes everyone to get ready faster.
Hopefully, these will give you some suggestions to help your family start off the morning with less hassle and less stress.

The search for leadership excellence with Victoria DePaul
This week on Journey to Self we will be searching for leadership excellence with author Victoria DePaul.
With more than 24 years experience in corporate America, Victoria C. DePaul knows a thing or two about effective business leadership. After struggling for many years with how to motivate employees to perform at their best level, DePaul discovered that the basis for motivation is the person’s desire to be happy.
In her new book, Creating the Intrapreneur: The Search for Leadership Excellence, DePaul uses her personal and professional experience to guide readers toward achieving true success in business and life. She explains that all organizations and communities are energy systems in which the basic unit of power is the individual. In order to achieve results, people must be empowered to experience and express their creative self. Only then will they be truly happy and productive.
Based in personal experience and application, the concepts that Victoria introduces are more than theory - they are the proven steps to organizational transformation. Further, she discovered what true happiness is - the full experience of our creative, spirit Self. In order to achieve excellent results, all that was necessary was to empower others to express their unique creativity. In other words, she learned to provide the vision, guidance and tools and then got out of the way. The natural result was a motivated and innovative workforce, leading to increased production results, high levels of morale and accountability.
Victoria, parent of two teenage sons, holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies - Business Administration, from the New York Institute of Technology.

Happy New Year
This week I started back to work after having a wonderful vacation and holiday time with my family. We had a relaxing, and laid back Christmas. It was so nice to just take a time out from work and school to celebrate with my family.
As the year approached I spent sometime looking back on the last year, reflecting on my life…the blessings that I have received and lessons that I have learned.
I am looking forward to everything that 2009 has to bring!! I am planning the launch of some new coaching programs that will include family management coaching, business resources and start-up coaching. I also have some new workshops that I am planning to run this summer.
Looking forward to growing with you in 2009!
Tonya

Tara Meyers-Robson on Journey to Self this week
I am so excited to have Tara Meyer-Robson my very first guest of the New Year!
Tara Meyer-Robson is the CEO and Creative Director of The Flow Enterprises, and the author of THE FLOW: 40 Days to Total Life Transformation, which just released on September 24, 2007 and was included as part of the 2007 Amelia Island Book Festival.
A successful business woman, she has been instrumental in building three businesses, holding positions as Vice President of Marketing, President, and CEO. Further, she has worked in every aspect of business, and has launched many successful marketing campaigns from the ground up, acting as graphics designer, business strategist, saleswoman and coach. It is her real-life experience that has allowed her to be extremely knowledgeable in not only what it takes to succeed in business, but also what it takes to live well in all areas of life.
It was through this experience in business that she noticed that some people were able to always have successful, prosperous, and healthy experiences (seemingly with great ease), while many others struggled, never having enough money, dealing with failures in business and life, and becoming more and more ill. Intuitively knowing that there must be a reason for this, she took five years to study quantum physics, philosophy, psychology, spontaneous healing, neurophysiology, and anatomy. By making revolutionary connections between these seemingly disparate studies, she discovered the philosophy that has become The Flow – a discovery that radically changes the idea of self-improvement and empowerment, and allows every individual to take back the power over their lives in a way that has never been done before.
An experienced and powerful public speaker, Tara brings her unique voice and sense of humor to everything that she does, breaking down difficult concepts in a way that are easy to understand, completely engaging, and enjoyable to learn about. When she conducts a program or seminar, she has the ability to connect personally with each member of the audience, and to truly understand their needs and goals – motivating every person to achieve success in all areas of life. It is her authentic love of people and desire to help others achieve their best that drives her, and this authenticity comes across in everything that she does.
Join me Thursday January 8th as Tara Meyer-Robson and I talk about “The Flow” and how you can get the power back over your own life . Listen live at 10am pst / 11am mnt / 12pm cst / 1pm est on Blog Talk Radio.
You can join the chat room during the show, use the “click to talk” feature, or call in (347) 215-8942 with your comments or questions.
