A Holiday Message from Coach Tonya

‘Tis the season…it is sure starting to look a lot like Christmas here in Wisconsin, we have had to major snow storms in the last two weeks with more on the way this week.  It has been great weather to cuddle up on the couch with love ones and sip hot chocolate.

It was a busy weekend with Christmas shopping on Saturday and Christmas with my in-laws on Sunday.  Tomorrow, Logan and I are looking forward to baking cookies with my cousin and her daughters.

I can’t wait to watch Logan unwrap his presents, its been my favorite part of Christmas since I became a mother, but especially in the last couple of years since he has been able to understand more.  It has helped me recapture the feeling of Christmas, you know that feeling of getting caught up in the magic that seems to be in the air.  It’s the feeling you get looking at the Christmas lights all lit up against the dark cold night.  It’s the feeling you get when you know what you made someones holiday a little better just by showing that you care.  It’s is the feeling you get when you look at the crowed room and know that all is well with the world because you are lucky enough to be with your love ones at that moment in time.

I have so much to be thankful for everyday of my life.  I have a loving and supportive husband and son, wonderful friends that are always there for me, the opportunity to pursue my educational goals, and everyday I get to wake up and be passionate about the work that I do.

My wish to all of you is to have a wonderful holiday season and don’t forget to take a piece of the holiday magic to stay with you the until next year!

~ Tonya

*** Starting Tuesday December 23rd until Monday January 5th I will be out of the office taking a well deserved vacation and spending time with family and friends.  I look forward to seeing you all in 2009!! ***

I heard a rumor…about Al Cole

Now, I am not one to spread rumors, but there is one out there that one of my all-time favorite guest, Al “Mr. Romance” Cole - the radio personality that all the women are crazy about because of his gorgeous eyes, sexy voice, and insightful love poetry, might do a personal performance online that will show us more than just his eyes! WOW!!

Al has heard about the Rumor, and likes the idea! So I think that Al might just let us all see more of his Face, and he might just do that Special Appearance for us, if we all send comments and message to his MySpace page (http://myspace.com/alcolemusic) – and let him know that we all love and support the idea!! Maybe then Al might cave in and Perform online for us all…entire face and all!!!

Al just Posted a Bulletin, click the link below to hear what he had to say:

A Message from Coach Tonya

As the holidays move closer we got a true taste of winter here in Wisconsin with a couple of winter storms.  Logan loves to watch in snow and I have adopted his viewpoint.  While it might hinder getting out, it also creates the perfect excuse to make sure hot chocolate, cuddle up with your kids, and watch the lights on the tree!  And of course after the storm there is snowman building, snow angels to be made, and sledding to be done.

Where ever you are, I hope that you are really enjoying winter with your family.

A special Journey to Self filled with wisdom

I want you to know the power, the liberation of another kind of science - the inner science, the yogic science - through which you can become the master of your own destiny.”

~ Sadhguru

Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, a yogi and profound mystic of our times, is a visionary humanitarian and a prominent spiritual leader. A contemporary Guru, rooted as strongly in mundane and pragmatic matters as he is in inner experience and wisdom, Sadhguru works tirelessly towards the physical, mental, and spiritual well-being of all. His mastery of the mechanisms of life, an outcome of his profound experience of the Self, guides in exploring the subtler dimensions of life.

At home in loincloth as much as he is in blue jeans, barefoot through the mighty Himalayas, or straddling a BMW motorcycle on the expressway, Sadhguru is the most unusual mystic that one can encounter. Marking a clear departure from mere customs and rituals, Sadhguru’s scientific methods for self-transformation are both direct and powerful. Belonging to no particular tradition, Sadhguru incorporates and presents what is most valid for the contemporary life from the yogic sciences.

Traversing seamlessly from the ancient to the ultramodern, Sadhguru bridges the gap between the known and the unknown, enabling all those who encounter him to explore and experience the deepest dimensions of life.

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity… It turns problems into gifts, failures into success, the unexpected into perfect timing, and mistakes into important events. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow.”

Feminine Power…Where did it go?

In the last two years alone, we’ve witnessed both the first female Speaker of the House, as well as the first presidential candidate. Although Senator Hillary Clinton lost the nomination, her campaign demonstrates that more women are aiming for positions of power - and according to history, this concept isn’t as novel as many people think.” ~ PR for Luminous Heartbeats

In The Luminous Heartbeat, author Wendy Victor sets out to discover why the beneficial female influences in our lives have been eclipsed by the male influences. In particular, she seeks to discover why the spiritual world has become so patriarchal. She proposes that the transition from oral tales to written history was the catalyst that severed us from a world naturally rich in spiritual reality. Her message is about new beginnings, empowerment, awareness, voice, and fertility. Ultimately, Victor reconstructs the ancient equilibrium between spiritual and terrestrial forces and reconfirms the original covenant between women and God. The result is a book luminous with both beauty and spiritual energy.

I am very excited to have Wendy Victor this week as my guest on Journey to Self.  Wendy Victor first became interested in comparative religion at Briarcliff College, where her thesis was on Zen Buddhism. Her work experience in Eastern art and anthropology has included assignments with the Brooklyn Museum of Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She earned a graduate degree from Sarah Lawrence College in Women’s History and led the Women’s History Program at the Convent of the Sacred Heart, in Greenwich, Connecticut, where she organized the school’s symposium on Educating Women for Peace. She is an expert photographer and lives in Palm Beach, Florida, with her best friend and husband, Mike.

Join me Thursday November 20th at 10am pst/11am mnt/12pm cst/ 1pm est on http://blogtalkradio.com/journeytoself as Wendy Victor and I trace the roots of female power!

Finally I am back!

This was my first week back to work and school in the last two weeks.  Over the last two weeks my family and I went through the stomach flu, pink eye, sinus and ear infections.

I have to say that I am glad that I am getting over sick, I have been catching up this week and I am happy to say I am almost there.  Of course my recovery coincides with a cold snap here in Wisconsin (about time…last week it was still in the 70’s)  So, now I am planning the holidays with my family and looking forward to our first snow - Logan and I have a date to make a snowman.

I am hoping all of you that have caught the flu or any other illness a speedy recovery and don’t forget to take care of yourself!

~ Domestic Abuse Awareness
~ Mom’s Coffee Break
~ Quote of the Week

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Domestic Abuse Awareness
Domestic Violence Awareness Month evolved from the first Day of Unity observed in October, 1981 by the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. The intent was to connect battered women’s advocates across the nation who were working to end violence against women and their children. The Day of Unity soon became a special week when a range of activities were conducted at the local, state, and national levels.
These activities were as varied and diverse as the program sponsors but had common themes: mourning those who have died because of domestic violence, celebrating those who have survived, and connecting those who work to end violence.
“In October 1987, the first Domestic Violence Awareness Month was observed. That same year the first national toll-free hotline was begun. In 1989 the first Domestic Violence Awareness Month Commemorative Legislation was passed by the U.S. Congress. Such legislation has passed every year since with NCADV providing key leadership in this effort.” (National Coalition Against Domestic Violence Website)
Every year in the United States approximately 1.3 million women and 835,000 men are physically assaulted by an intimate partner.
“Battering is the establishment of control and fear in a relationship through violence and other forms of abuse. The batterer uses acts of violence and a series of behaviors, including intimidation, threats, psychological abuse, isolation, etc. to coerce and to control the other person. The violence may not happen often, but it remains as a hidden (and constant) terrorizing factor.” (Uniform Crime Reports, Federal Bureau of Investigation, 1990)
Join me for a special educational Journey to Self on Thursday October 16th @ 10am pst/11am mnt/12pm cst/1pm est as we talk about Domestic Violence, prevention, and how to get help for you or a loved one.  Joining me is Diane Tegarden, a domestic abuse survivor and author of “Getting Out of Limbo: A Self Help Divorce Book for Women” and John Smith, Women’s Advocate, Volunteer Coordinator, and Community Educator for the YWCA Rock Co., Wisconsin.
Finding Your Bliss
This week on Journey to Self are Liz Lichti and Laura Whitelaw, these fabulous women are the creators of The Way to Bliss Now.com a membership site.
Liz Lichti’s first taste of EFT was at a workshop that she attended in the summer of 2006. Liz was so blown away by the whole process, that she continues to use everyday and was hungry to learn more.  During a web search she came across Maryam Webster’s Certified Energy Coach program and registered for the coaching program in the fall and received her certificate to coach EFT & ZPoint.  After graduation Liz spent the next year working on herself and her own blocks to Bliss while very slowly building her practice.
Laura Whitelaw came across EFT late 2001 early 2002 – she heard about it through a newsletter and was invited to attend a free call with the creator Gary Craig.  After listening to Gary and learning about EFT, Laura became very intrigued, so she began to learn everything I could about it.  She used EFT on and off with herself throughout the years and attended various trainings with other EFT practitioners.  In the last 2 years, Laura had began using EFT on a much more regular basis and obtained her EFT-CC designation in 2007.
Then late last year, Laura was introduced to ZPoint.  After the her first session,  she didn’t notice any great relief right away but after about 3 or 4 hours, an incredible feeling of well-being washed over her and lasted for 3 or 4 days.  She was totally in the “now” during that time and felt great!  Laura then went ahead and became certified earlier this year as a ZPoint practitioner with the creator of ZPoint.
In the summer of 2007 Liz met Laura at a meetup group where we discovered we were both certified in EFT, they immediately connected.  From there they started their own Meetup group to share EFT with others and the group has steadily grown over the past year. This fall Liz and Laura decided to partner up in business and develop a membership site The Way To Bliss Now so they could start sharing these life changing techniques with people around the world and help those already familiar with energy techniques integrate them more easily into their everyday lives.
Join me Thursday October 9th as I talk to Liz and Laura about finding bliss. Listen live at 5pm pst / 6pm mnt / 7pm cst / 8pm est on Blog Talk Radio ~ http://blogtalkradio.com/journeytoself.
Coach Your Brain
I am excited to have Business Coaches Jenn Givler and Katherine Reschke as my guest this week.
Jenn Givler, is a marketing expert and business coach who regularly helps her clients break through self-sabotaging barriers and mind-set traps. Katherine Reschke is a life and business coach and avid student of the brain. She has the ability to make complex concepts simple enough for anyone to grasp and she is passionate about helping people change for the better.
Katherine and Jenn are experienced coaches who have come together to solve the problem that they were seeing over and over in not only their clients lives but in their own. They kept seeing people getting stuck, not achieving the success they wanted and getting stuck in the same patterns. Using the science of the brain, they have created a program that works on the mindsets that underpin EVERYTHING we do. By changing the mindsets, clients are changing their lives and their businesses.
Their new program “Coach Your Brain” helps individuals move from stuck to success with the combination of traditional coaching tools and cutting edge techniques that have been proved to be so powerful that it has been used as treatment for individuals with O.C.D (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) and seen results in as little as two weeks
My New Certification
I am happy to announce that this week I completed my certification as a Family Manager™ Coach.  The Family Manager™ system was developed by Kathy Peel and I am so excited to use it to help families become closer, happier, and healthier.  I will be offering Family Makeovers, Workshops, coaching, and community presentations.
Most mothers assume the role of Family Manager in the family, the problem is that unlike a manager of a business, mom feels she has to do everything herself.  A family is a team and through learning how to motivate your “team”, but by working together a family can become a support system for each member in the family, which will foster the personal growth of EVERYONE in your family.
The Courage to Change
Imagine that you are living a life that makes you feel like an outsider, yet is all that you have ever know.  Somewhere within yourself you find the courage to leave your family and the only way of life that you have ever known in search of a life that will allow you to finally define yourself.
To start not only a new life, but to have to learn a whole other way of living is a scary thought, but that is exactly what this week’s guest did.
Anna Dee Olson has lived a life most have only seen in the movies. Having grown up in an Amish community where she lived a life of strictness and rigidity, where she was forbidden to use even the most common technologies that most Americans take for granted on a daily basis, she was taught that life was meant to be a struggle and that her difficulties were God’s way of punishing her for her sins.
Anna has faced difficulties that most will never experience, and now, she speaks about these experiences and uses the example of her life to inspire and motivate others to reach for their dreams and to believe in God’s love.
In less than a year after leaving the Amish lifestyle behind Anna passed the test to get her High School Equivalence diploma.  Fall of 1993 Anna’s dream of going to college became real.  In 1995 Anna graduated the first time and in 2005 Anna graduated with an Associate of Applied Science Degree.  During the past 16 years Anna was involved in Student Senate, Relay for Life, Madhatters Drama club, Women of Today organization, and Toastmasters International.
Today Anna’s motto is: “True forgiveness is a choice we all have.” Anna is a successful published Author and Public Speaker.   Anna strongly believes in helping people through volunteering, sharing her experiences to help others, and help the world understand the secretive life of the Amish culture.
Join me Thursday September 25th to listen Anna’s inspiring story! Listen LIVE to a special evening Journey to Self at 5pm pst / 6pm mnt / 7pm cst / 8pm est on http://blogtalkradio.com/journeytoself.
Quote of the Week
I have three treasures. Guard and keep them: The first is deep love, the second is frugality, and the third is not to dare to be ahead of the world.  Because of deep love, one is courageous.  Because of frugality, one is generous.  Because of not daring to be ahead of the world, one becomes the leader of the world.”
~ Lao-tzu
