Feminine Power…Where did it go?
In the last two years alone, we’ve witnessed both the first female Speaker of the House, as well as the first presidential candidate. Although Senator Hillary Clinton lost the nomination, her campaign demonstrates that more women are aiming for positions of power - and according to history, this concept isn’t as novel as many people think.” ~ PR for Luminous Heartbeats
In The Luminous Heartbeat, author Wendy Victor sets out to discover why the beneficial female influences in our lives have been eclipsed by the male influences. In particular, she seeks to discover why the spiritual world has become so patriarchal. She proposes that the transition from oral tales to written history was the catalyst that severed us from a world naturally rich in spiritual reality. Her message is about new beginnings, empowerment, awareness, voice, and fertility. Ultimately, Victor reconstructs the ancient equilibrium between spiritual and terrestrial forces and reconfirms the original covenant between women and God. The result is a book luminous with both beauty and spiritual energy.
I am very excited to have Wendy Victor this week as my guest on Journey to Self. Wendy Victor first became interested in comparative religion at Briarcliff College, where her thesis was on Zen Buddhism. Her work experience in Eastern art and anthropology has included assignments with the Brooklyn Museum of Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She earned a graduate degree from Sarah Lawrence College in Women’s History and led the Women’s History Program at the Convent of the Sacred Heart, in Greenwich, Connecticut, where she organized the school’s symposium on Educating Women for Peace. She is an expert photographer and lives in Palm Beach, Florida, with her best friend and husband, Mike.
