New for Life By Design in 2008
After a bit of a hiatus, Empowering You! is back, new and improved!! I thank you for your patience. As always, I am dedicated to brings you the tools you need to be successful in your life.
My focus in the new year will be on Life By Design’s internet radio show Journey to Self, building the Mom’s Coffee Break Community, and bringing to life ideas for my first book . I have a wonderful direction that I want to take Life By Design and I invite all of you to join me along the way!!
I have decided this year I want to really focus on coaching, writing, and education on why self-esteem and self-image are so important to everything you do in your life. To fit this mind set, I have changed Life By Design’s motto to “Helping you build the foundation to your success!”.
I look forward to bringing in success with you all in the new year!
What’s New for You in 2008?
With the new year comes new dreams and goals that we want to bring into our lives. I recently had coach Jane Carroll on Journey to Self and we talked about how to set goals and be successful at keeping them. (Listen to Journey to Self's "New You for the New Year" show.)
Here are some tips to keep you on your journey to a better you!
Let go of the “resolution” thinking. Let goals just be goals, by giving them a special title it unconsciously causes more stress and pressure. For example, if you set your “resolution” as losing weight on 2 weeks into January you eat a pint of ice cream, you would see your resolution as being wrecked and maybe just give up on it. However, if you look at it as an on-going goal that is a work in progress, you are more apt to forgive a little back peddling.
Write your goals down. Write down what you want, be specific. By writing down your goals you are giving form to something that up until then has just been an abstract idea. Write down what you want to accomplish, make it a poster and put it on your wall, make a vision board, the idea is to surround yourself with what you want and to be thinking about it.
Formulate action steps. Now, that you know what you want, you need to figure out the steps you will need to get to your goals. As my good friends Jenn Givler and Kim Emerson have taught me, it is important to be deliberate in your actions . As you are more deliberate you will be focusing on steps that bring you progress, while cutting out what takes up time that is not related to your goals.
Track your progress...no matter how small. Sometimes it may seem like you are not gaining any ground towards your goals, even if you are. Keep track of how your action steps are going. It is a good way to monitor progress and also to identify places that you are getting stuck that may require you to see additional resources or assistance to accomplish.
Don’t forget to ask for help. Whether it is help from your family to pitch in with the house work, asking a friend for a shoulder to lean on, or seeking out a professional...you do not have to struggle alone. By letting go of the thinking that the only way to prove yourself is to do it yourself and getting some help you will be able to realize your goal sooner than you realize. Remember that staying determined and positive will be your biggest allies. |
